Mom and Dad's Big Bike Adventure!

Brian and I were so excited to have the opportunity to go on a bike ride together tonight. Since we have had our bicycles, we either all go, or Brian and I take turns. We can't leave the kids alone! So let me back up a bit and explain how we pulled it off!

First of all, we have been very blessed this past year with a wonderful babysitter! Jessica has been a wonderful part of our family! The kids totally love her and we do too! Here comes the sad part: she's going away to college!! so sad :( Hopefully we will be able to see her a few more times before she leaves in August. We love you Jessica! And we are happy for you! Thanks for being a treasured part of our family!

So we have been trying to figure out what to do about finding someone new to stay with the kids. Now that Brian and I have established a regular routine of "date night", it's hard to think of not having it. But you can't just leave your kids with anyone. Low and behold, would you believe that our neighbor a few houses down put a flier in our mailbox saying that she wanted to start babysitting! We have talked to her parents many, many times since we lived here, but we didn't know that their daughter was of babysitting age. Plus all teenagers aren't inclined to babysit. Well, we had her and her dad come over for an "interview" a couple of days ago. She is alot younger than Jessica, but she has alot of experience with kids. She does alot with the children in their church and at their home bible study. The kids took right to her. So we invited her to come for a short time while Brian and I rode our bikes.

We were only gone for about an hour, but we had so much fun! We rode our bicycles through the neighborhood to a little ice cream shop on Buck Swamp Rd. We enjoyed an ice cream and made our way leisurely back home. It wasn't a bad ride at all! We rode about 5 miles round trip. Everything went great at home with Kathryn and the kids! So we scheduled another night next week! Next time we'll ride over to the Grill and have another cheap date! No $4.10 per gallon of gas to burn! Woo HOO!

I am so thankful to God for sending us another sitter. What a blessing! Thank you, Lord!
