So we decided to sleep in our tent (still in our back yard). We were all so excited about it. We wanted to see how the family would do "roughing it". So we all dressed nice and warmly (the temp got down to 46 degrees!) and all snuggled up in the tent. And in complete "roughing it" style, we took the laptop out there to watch a movie! And once the kids had fallen asleep, Brian and I were able to check our email with the wireless internet! All went well! At 1:30 in the morning, Drew and Seth had to use the bathroom. So as I was unzipping the tent to go into the house, Drew very seriously asked, "Are there going to be coyotes out there?" I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little afraid to make the 10 step walk to the back porch after that question. But I assured him that all was safe in our own backyard.
All in all, we all did very well. Brian and I slept quite comfortably on our air mattress (remember: we were "roughing it") and we stayed warm enough. Even our dog, Nestle, liked being out there. Our first REAL camping trip is tentatively scheduled for Mother's Day weekend. We will camp somewhere local. Below are some pictures of our Back-Yard Campout!

I have been waiting for these pictures to come!! Okay, so Brian said this tent was big but I didn't realize it was a small mansion! There are people that have homes this size...remember our place in NYC? Yeah, and our place in DC isn't much bigger! Ha! So glad you guys did that...I know the kids loved it. It's great to see you really "roughing" it out with that air mattress and laptop, just like the pros! :o)
That is too funny Shannon. Haha. :D I bet you had the kitchen sink real close by too, didn't you? ;)

WHOA! That is a mansion for a tent! For me, I would get a pup tent, and I can use pup tent with one of my lab dogs with me. I can't set up something that big.
I am glad that you had a wonderful time.
As for coyote, Drew reminded me of Linus calling Charlie Brown that he heard coyote howling during the night.
We all miss you all on Mother's Day! I did wish you a Happy Mother's Day too!
