Today is Benjamin's 7th birthday!! WOW! It's hard to believe it was only 7 years ago that we were sitting in Red Lobster in Rocky Mount, celebrating our Anniversary, when my water broke! Benjamin wasn't due for another week! But, he was a big boy and ready to see the world! He weighed in at a whopping 9lbs and 11 oz.!! They called him "Big Ben" at the hospital! He looked like a fat little butterball turkey! He was filled with determination from the beginning!
This morning, he woke up to find a Surprise Birthday Party! We didn't plan a big party this year. (When you have alot of kids, everyone can't have a big party every year--it gets expensive!) So this was his year to have a family party!

I have been asking Ben what kind of cake he wanted me to make for his birthday. So yesterday he finally thought of it. He said, "You know what kind of cake I want for my birthday?"
I said, "What?"
He said, "a PUMPKIN PIE"!
So, that's what I made him! And we had it for breakfast!

Ben has been asking for a Rip Stik since May when he saw Trey's rip stik on our camping trip. He has literally asked for one about twice a week for the past 4 months. I was so relieved when his birthday finally arrived! For those of you that don't know what a Rip Stik is (because I only learned about them in May) they are a 2-wheeled skateboard type thingy. It is immensly difficult to ride this thing. But, like I said, Benjamin is filled with determination. I can't explain the concept of how to make this thing roll. As soon as breakfast was over, he got right on it!

Here is a short video of Ben riding his Rip Stik. You have no idea how difficult it is!

Happy Birthday Ben!
Question: Did you get to finish your meal at Red Lobster?
Happy Birthday to Ben! Wow, I never had saw a rip stick before. That is cool!
Happy Birthday!
I too wonder about did you get to finish your meal at Red Lobster? Was he born in Rocky Mount instead of Goldsboro?
Love in Christ!

Happy Happy Birthday Ben. I can't believe you are 7 already. I remember I drove here from Greenville to be at the hospital when you were born. Then I got about 4-5 hrs of sleep and headed back to Greenville for an 8 am nursing class. I was so proud of you. I told everyone how much you weighed. And now, I am still so very proud of the sweet boy that you are. We love you very much.
ok, so here's the rest of the story. Sorry to leave you hangin'! My water broke just as the food came to the table. I excused myself from the table without telling anyone. The contractions started immediately. I was in terrible pain before we even left the restaraunt. So the answer is NO, we did not get to finish our meal. BUT CAN YOU BELIEVE WE HAD TO WAIT WHILE BRIAN ASKED FOR TO-GO BOXES!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Ben!!! :) The Rip Stik looks like a lot of fun!

P.S. Shannon, that is too funny about waiting for to-go boxes. Haha.
Happy Birthday Benjamin! I hope that you enjoyed your birthday, pumpkin pie and Rip Stik. It looks like the hoverboard that Michael J. Fox road in the movie Back to the Future. We enjoyed having you all over last night to visit with us and see Olivia for the first time in person. Happy Belated Anniversary to you Brian and Shannon. Blair and I thank God for you!
