One day last week, my neighbor, June, called to invite us to go pick blueberries at her friend's house in Kinston. She said it was unusual to still have blueberries this late in the season, so we were excited to go! June also invited Alaine and her kids! We had a great time and picked for hours! We have already made several blueberry cobblers! We are enjoying eating them frozen, too! It was hard work getting them all cleaned and dried, though. Thankfully Lindsey was happy to help! Benjamin was going to help, but he kept eating them! Here are some pics of our adventure:
Seth and Drew

Seth showing his juicy berry!
I think Drew was dumping them out as fast as I was picking them.
I finally caught on!
Ben and Jeremiah had a great time together!

Thanks to Lindsey for helping prepare the berries for the freezer!
We've tried two different cobbler recipes. What's your favorite recipe?

Here is the recipe from my good egg sister in law but more like a sister:
The dump is easy...you need a box of yellow cake mix, a can of crushed pineapple, a quart of fresh blueberries. a stick of butter, a cup of sugar and a 9x13 pan (crushed nuts for the top are optional)
In the pan layer pineapple (juice & all-spread it out) then blueberries (spread them out), half the sugar (spread out),the powdered cake mix (do not mix like the box says- just sprinkle the powder!). Then rest of the sugar and nuts(if wanted-peacns or nut topping or whatever) Melt stick of butter and drizzle it over the top (it will soak in during cooking and fruit will bubble up into cake powder) Cook at 375 for about 50 min or until top is brown (and maybe crunchy- the way I like mine!) Enjoy!!!
I had made that for last year for the Women's night Fruit.
We did miss you all yesterday!
