It is unbelievable how long it takes us to get ready for a camping trip! I hope as we do it more, we will get better at packing and knowing what we need. This time was really great because we were able to take our bikes. There is some really great biking trails at Cabin Lake.
I intended to document the whole weekend on camera to share on the blog, so I charged up the camera batteries and packed extras. You can only imagine my horror to turn on my camera and see that I had NO MEMORY CARD!!! Yes, that's right! It was still in the computer...at home! My camera only holds a few pics internally. I suppose I could have decreased the resolution and maybe held a little more. But I only thought of that today. Anyway, the only pics I have are of our fishing adventure. The first day we had several bites and actually pulled some little ones in. The second day, we didn't catch any.
I learned alot about the kids fishing: Seth is very patient. He really enjoyed sitting on the bank all by himself. He didn't much care for fishing off the small pier. That was really for the best since his favorite part was casting out the line. It was best for no one to be around for that part. It would have actually been difficult for him to catch a fish, since he liked casting it out and reeling it in so frequently.
Ben loved baiting and casting also. I'm glad worms are cheap. I saw plenty of worms fly through the air that weren't baited well. Eventually, he got better at getting those slimy little things hooked better.
Drew enjoyed playing at the play ground by the pier the best. Although, given the opportunity, he wasn't a bit afraid of the squirmy little worms. And one time, I caught him eating the bait! Don't worry... not the worm bait. Lindsey was sure she had heard that hot dogs were great bait. So we took some leftovers to try. We didn't catch any fish with them, but Drew enjoyed them.
Lindsey loved fishing. She even chose fishing over playing with the other girls! She even caught one! But Cairns had to take it off of her hook and throw it back for her.
I see many, many fishing trips in our future!
(Pay no attention to the date on the pics. I didn't realize it was wrong)
